the "backstage crew"

just like how the backstage crew is often overlooked, librarians in my opinion face the same 'occupation hazard'... i think ppl always think about researchers themselves who write brilliant papers without thinking so much about ppl who help in the process of locating sources... the 2 librarians at the Center for Chinese Studies Library have been so kind and helpful and i've been wanting to blog about how professional and nice they are. but to date i haven't written about them, so it shall be the topic for today=P I was especially touched today, cos when i stepped in this afternoon, the head librarian came up to me with a bunch of books containing possible documents related to this 1982 document i was hunting for yesterday... and i was just really touched cos i just asked them a question and they went all out to look for the materials for me... and this is not the first time! plus ever since i became a regular at the library, the other librarian reserved this mini table in an obscure corner of the library just for me to put all the books i need but never finish looking through whenever i visit... well sometimes they are a little overenthu and 'shower' me with irrelevant info, but they are really well-intentioned and i just feel so thankful to have them around in the library.... i definitely have to remb to send some baked goods their way when everything is finally completed! =)

this week will be spent mostly on piecing together my submission 2 (due on Friday) and though i have quite a lot of time this week to work on it, i'm still deeply worried-- mainly cos am working with case studies that i knew NOTHING about till like 1.5 weeks ago... and hav to try to come up with convincing and coherent argument by sieving out all the info i found... i dunno. just feel so risky and insecure. perhaps i'm starting to suffer the consequences of turning in some chapalang prospectus at the end of last semester....

i started watching my new Jap drama last night and watched two episodes over dinner just now.... but i find myself starting to get hooked! =P help. thought it's good for 'unwinding' after working on thesis.... now it seems like it's substituting work time hehe =P though the Japanese still speak too fast for me and i still dun get a lot of what they say, it's somehow "music to my ears" =P
and i had the tastiest instant jap yakisoba for dinner just now! it even comes with a tiny packet of mayo! shall hunt for other flavors at Ranch tmr =P
